England seal ODI series 2-1 as Duckett's 141 sets Lord's record
England posted the highest one-day international total at Lord's and beat India by 27 runs to take the three-match series 2-1.

England beat India by 27 runs at Lord's to clinch the three-match one-day international series 2-1, after posting the highest ODI total the ground has seen.
Ben Duckett struck 141 from 135 balls, the biggest individual men's ODI score at Lord's, surpassing England's previous ground mark of 334-4 against India in 1975. He shared an opening stand of 192 with Jacob Bethell, who made 91 before chipping a return catch to Prince Yadav in the 44th over. Duckett's innings included 18 fours and a six.
Joe Root drove England to their final total with an unbeaten 74 from 48 balls, his sixth consecutive ODI score of 50 or more, while Jos Buttler added a rapid unbeaten 41 from 13 deliveries. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of India's bowlers with 2-69.
India's chase falls short
Set what would have been the second-highest successful chase in ODI history, India stayed in contention through Rohit Sharma's 138 from 111 balls, an innings featuring 17 fours and five sixes. He and Shubman Gill, who made 77 before being trapped lbw by Adil Rashid, put on 147. Rohit's dismissal in the 38th over, bowled round his legs by Bethell, proved decisive as the required rate climbed. Virat Kohli made 74 before Sam Curran, who finished with 4-75, had him caught in the covers, and India closed on 360-7.
Key points
- England made 387-3 from their 50 overs; India replied with 360-7, a 27-run defeat.
- Duckett's 141 is the highest men's ODI innings played at Lord's.
- Duckett and Bethell's 192-run opening partnership is England's best at Lord's and their best against India.
- Rohit's 138 was the top score of the match and ended in the 38th over.
- Sam Curran took 4-75, the best figures of the game.
The result completes a 2-1 series win for England under Harry Brook, with the opening pair's earlier struggles at Edgbaston and Cardiff giving way to a record-breaking display in London. The main talking point now is Rohit's future, with the 39-year-old rumoured to be retiring at the end of the series.
