Rohit Sharma dismisses retirement talk after Lord's century
India opener hits 138 but England win ODI series 2-1; Rohit says noise won't distract him.

India batting great Rohit Sharma has brushed aside speculation about his international future, saying he remains fully focused on contributing to the team after scoring a century in the deciding ODI against England at Lord's.
Rohit made 138 off 138 balls, his 34th ODI hundred, but India still lost the match by 102 runs, handing England a 2-1 series victory. The defeat followed a 4-0 thumping in the T20I series, piling pressure on the touring side.
Reports had emerged during India's defeat in the second ODI in Cardiff suggesting the 39-year-old could retire after the Lord's fixture. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia denied those claims, and Rohit himself made clear he intends to keep playing.
What Rohit said
Speaking to bcci.tv after the match, Rohit said: "My job is with the bat. Come and play, represent my country, represent the team. That's what I've been told to do since I made my debut so that's what I'm going to do." He added that "noise" about his future has followed him throughout his career and he will let it continue without distraction.
