Tsimikas named in Liverpool pre-season squad after year-long Roma loan

Kostas Tsimikas has been included in Liverpool’s 31-man squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, marking his first involvement with the first team since returning from a season-long loan at AS Roma.

The 30-year-old left-back has not played for Liverpool since a defeat against Brighton in May 2025. During the 2025/26 campaign, Tsimikas made 25 appearances across all competitions for Roma, though only six of those were starts in Serie A, totalling 1,050 minutes of football.

• Tsimikas has less than a year remaining on his Liverpool contract.
• Andy Robertson departed for Tottenham Hotspur this summer after his contract expired.
• Milos Kerkez is expected to remain first-choice left-back, following his form under head coach Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth.
• Tsimikas joined Liverpool from Olympiakos for £11.8 million in 2020 and has made 115 appearances for the club.
• He won a Premier League title, FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups during his time at Anfield.

The Greece international is reportedly keen to fight for his place at Liverpool, and the exit of Robertson could open up more minutes behind Kerkez. However, the Reds have also signed Jeremie Frimpong, who can play as a wing-back, adding competition.

Pre-season schedule

Liverpool begin their pre-season with a match against Sunderland in Nashville on July 26, followed by fixtures against Wrexham in New York on July 30 and Leeds United in Chicago on August 2. They will then face AS Monaco and Como at Anfield before starting their Premier League campaign away at Newcastle United on August 23.
