Kostas Tsimikas included in Liverpool pre-season squad after year away

Liverpool have included Kostas Tsimikas in their 31-man squad for the pre-season tour of the United States, more than a year after his last appearance for the club.

The 30-year-old Greece international has not played for Liverpool since a defeat against Brighton in May 2025. He spent the 2025/26 season on loan at AS Roma in Serie A, making 25 appearances across all competitions, though only six of those were starts.

Tsimikas returns to a Liverpool side under new head coach Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot in June. The left-back could see increased opportunities following the departure of Andy Robertson to Tottenham Hotspur upon the expiry of his contract. However, Milos Kerkez remains the likely starter after impressing under Iraola at Bournemouth.

Liverpool's pre-season kicks off with a friendly against Sunderland in Nashville on Saturday, before facing Wrexham in New York and Leeds United in Chicago. The team will then return to Anfield for matches against AS Monaco and Como ahead of the Premier League opener at Newcastle United on August 23.
