Floyd Mayweather faces two felony charges over $200,000 bad check for watch
The boxing legend is accused of writing a bad check to buy an Audemars Piguet watch in Las Vegas.

Floyd Mayweather is facing two felony charges in Nevada after allegedly passing a bad check to purchase a $200,000 watch in December 2024, according to Clark County court documents reviewed by ESPN.
The charges, filed on April 27, include theft and intent to defraud. Mayweather was ordered to appear in court on April 30 but did not attend, though he was represented by counsel.
What happened
The complaint alleges Mayweather wrote a $200,000 check for an Audemars Piguet watch from the Las Vegas store Gold & Beyond, despite having insufficient funds. The document claims he did so knowing the check would not be honored.
Marc Cook, attorney for Gold & Beyond, said the store initially filed a complaint in February after giving Mayweather over a year to pay. 'My guy trusted Mayweather and was trying to give him every opportunity to make good on that,' Cook told ESPN.
- Mayweather faces two felony charges: theft (value $100,000 or greater) and intent to defraud (value $1,200 or greater).
- If convicted, theft carries 1-20 years in prison and fines up to $15,000; intent to defraud carries 1-4 years and fines up to $5,000.
- The IRS also has a $7.3 million lien against Mayweather for unpaid taxes from 2018-2023.
- Mayweather's attorney, Adrian Lobo, stated her client 'had absolutely no intent to defraud' and looks forward to being vindicated.
What's next
Mayweather is scheduled to return to the ring on June 27 in Athens, Greece, against kickboxing legend Mike Zambidis, followed by a potential rematch with Manny Pacquiao on September 25 in Las Vegas. These legal proceedings may complicate his fight plans.
