Castlemont, full brother to Bay Bridge, set for racecourse debut

Castlemont, a full brother to the champion racehorse Bay Bridge, is set to make his debut at Windsor on Monday evening. The three-year-old gelding will run in the Join Fitzdares For A Personal Service Maiden Stakes at 6.50pm, wearing the famous Godolphin blue.

Trained by Charlie Appleby, Castlemont was purchased for 375,000 guineas as a yearling. His brother Bay Bridge was rated 122 at his peak and notably defeated the great Baaeed in the 2022 Champion Stakes. Expectations are high for the newcomer, who has already been gelded.

Other notable runners at Windsor

The Windsor card also features Treble Bass, a half-brother to Lava Stream, making his debut for Charlie Appleby under Ray Dawson. Among those with experience, Lord d'Or sets the standard after finishing second to Wood Ditton winner Portcullis at York in May. The Amo Racing-owned Cool Girl, a €100,000 purchase, also runs.

Across the Channel at Vichy

Meanwhile, across the Channel, Vichy hosts the Listed Prix Frédéric de Lagrange at 2.28pm. Saint Martin, winner of three consecutive races this year including a Listed event at Cagnes-Sur-Mer, faces Lady Mara, who finished fourth in the Group 2 Premio Oaks d'Italia Tattersalls.

With a busy evening of racing ahead, all eyes will be on Windsor to see if Castlemont can live up to his illustrious pedigree. His full brother Bay Bridge set a high bar, but Appleby will be hoping the newcomer can make a winning start.
