World Cup 2030: Host nations, stadiums and final venue confirmed
Spain, Portugal and Morocco will co-host the 2030 World Cup, with opening matches in South America.

FIFA has confirmed that the 2030 men's World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with the tournament running from June 8 to July 21, 2030. The event will mark the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930.
The majority of matches will take place across the three European and African hosts, but the opening three fixtures are scheduled for Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay as a tribute to the tournament's origins. This will be the first World Cup spread across three confederations and the first with matches on two continents.
Why South America is involved
Uruguay hosted the inaugural World Cup in 1930 and won the title, while Argentina were beaten finalists. Paraguay is the home of CONMEBOL, the oldest football confederation. FIFA president Gianni Infantino described the multi-continent format as a message of unity in a divided world.
The 2030 edition will feature 48 teams and 21 venues. Spain will enter the tournament as reigning champions, having beaten Argentina in the 2026 final in New York. The 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, has served as a test for the multi-host model.
