Swansea City sign New Zealand winger Elijah Just from Motherwell

Swansea City have completed the signing of New Zealand international winger Elijah Just from Motherwell for an undisclosed fee, with the Scottish club confirming the deal is a record sale for them.

The 26-year-old arrives after an eye-catching run at this summer's World Cup, where he scored three goals for the All Whites and appeared in all three of their group matches, including a double against Iran.

A record sale for Motherwell

Just only joined Motherwell in 2025 after spending most of his career in Denmark, but his single season at Fir Park proved productive. He made 43 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists, form that helped the club secure European football and earned him a nomination for Premiership player of the year.

Motherwell have not disclosed the fee but said it exceeds any previous transfer received by the club, underlining how quickly Just's value rose during his time in Scotland.

Swansea head coach Vitor Matos said Just's ability to play in more than one position makes him a good fit for the squad, adding that the winger came through the club's recruitment process well and impressed at the World Cup. Just also reunites with summer arrival Stephen Welsh, who spent last season on loan at Motherwell from Celtic.

The move continues a sharp rise for a player who was plying his trade in the Austrian second tier not long ago. Swansea will now look to integrate him quickly, while Motherwell must replace the output of a forward who contributed directly to 15 goals in his only season at Fir Park.
