Ralf Rangnick Rejects AC Milan, Extends Austria Contract Until 2028
Austria boss signs new deal after turning down approach from Serie A giants.

Ralf Rangnick has rejected an approach from AC Milan and signed a contract extension to remain head coach of the Austria national team until 2028, the Austrian Football Association confirmed.
The 67-year-old was approached by the Rossoneri three weeks ago to become their new technical director, but he declined the offer to focus on Austria's World Cup campaign. 'We were contacted three weeks ago, and there were discussions. I made it very clear from the start that I wanted clarity by the beginning of the World Cup,' Rangnick said.
AC Milan have since turned their attention to former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, who is the favorite to replace Massimiliano Allegri after the Italian was sacked.
Rangnick led Austria to their first World Cup qualification in 28 years. They will face Jordan, Argentina, and Algeria in Group J of the tournament. The new deal also covers UEFA Euro 2028.
The German previously managed Manchester United on an interim basis during the 2021-22 season, guiding them to a sixth-place Premier League finish. His tenure was widely criticized, but he has rebuilt his reputation with the Austrian national team.
