Kieran McGeeney to continue as Armagh manager for 13th season

Kieran McGeeney will remain as Armagh manager for the 2027 season after being ratified at a county committee meeting on Monday night, extending his tenure to a 13th year at the helm of his native county.

The Mullaghbawn native becomes the longest-serving inter-county manager, having taken charge initially as part of Paul Grimley's management team in 2014 before assuming the top role the following year. His 12th season saw Armagh capture a long-awaited Ulster title, their first since 2008, defeating Monaghan in the final.

McGeeney's highlight came in 2024 when he guided the Orchard county to the All-Ireland title, completing a personal double after captaining Armagh to Sam Maguire Cup glory in 2002.

Recent struggles and future outlook

Despite the Ulster triumph, Armagh endured a difficult 2026 Championship, losing to Louth in Round 2A of the revamped format before being eliminated by defending champions Kerry in Killarney.
