Fery aims to stun Cobolli for Wimbledon semi-final spot
British wildcard Arthur Fery targets a place in the Wimbledon semi-finals against ninth seed Flavio Cobolli.

Arthur Fery, the British wildcard ranked 114th in the world, will aim to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals when he faces Italian ninth seed Flavio Cobolli on Wednesday. Fery, 23, has already surprised many by reaching the quarter-finals, but now faces a player who was runner-up at last month's French Open.
Cobolli, 24, is a proven grass-court player having reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals last year. Despite Fery's underdog status, BBC Sport analyst Jamie Murray noted that Fery has proven to be a great grass-court player who poses unique challenges to opponents.
Fery's path to victory
At 5ft 9in, Fery is shorter than most ATP Tour players, but he compensates with exceptional athleticism and net play. He has won 127 of 201 volleys at this year's Wimbledon, and his 63% net points win rate is the second highest in the men's draw.
Murray suggested Fery should adopt a 'crush and rush' tactic on Cobolli's second serve, returning aggressively and charging the net to deny the Italian time to set up his heavy forehand.
- Fery is ranked as the best mover among the men's quarter-finalists.
- He has won 78% of serve and volley points at the tournament.
- Cobolli was a Wimbledon quarter-finalist in 2025 and French Open runner-up in 2026.
- No British man has reached the Wimbledon semi-finals since 1968 except four others.
The match is scheduled for Wednesday on Centre Court. A victory would make Fery only the fifth British man to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals in the Open era.
