Aston Villa have completed the signing of goalkeeper Emily Ramsey on a free transfer from Everton, the club confirmed on Wednesday. The 25-year-old returns to Villa Park after spending the 2024-25 season on loan with the club, during which she made one appearance.
Ramsey initially joined Everton on loan in 2022 before making the move permanent, spending four years on Merseyside. She now returns to Villa to compete for the starting spot alongside Sabrina D'Angelo and Ellie Roebuck.
"It felt like the right time for a new challenge," Ramsey said. "I'm excited to play at Villa Park on the right side of the team, get to know the players and see what we can achieve together this season."
Career background
- Ramsey came through the ranks at Manchester United, making six senior appearances over five years.
- She had loan spells at Sheffield United, West Ham and Birmingham City before joining Everton.
- The goalkeeper has represented England at youth levels up to under-23s and earned her first senior call-up in 2023.
What the club said
Villa director of women's football Marisa Ewers praised the signing, saying: "Emily is a goalkeeper with strong experience in the WSL and a real desire to continue developing her game. She has arrived at Villa eager to challenge herself and contribute to the group."
