10-year-old skateboarder Jaxon Popovic targets GB National title
Jaxon Popovic, aged 10, will compete against senior skaters at the GB National Championships in July.

Jaxon Popovic, a 10-year-old skateboarder from Pembrokeshire, is set to become the youngest competitor at the senior GB National Championships in Newquay from 9–12 July. He will face 26 of the UK's top male skateboarders, including Olympic hopefuls, for a £10,000 prize pot.
Despite his age, Popovic has already made a name for himself in the sport. Born in Australia and raised in England, he now lives in Wales and has been skateboarding since his first birthday. His recent performances include a win in Hemel Hempstead as part of the Survival of the Sickest series, along with podium finishes in Birmingham and Cornwall.
Road to the Nationals
Popovic's journey to the national stage has required significant dedication. With no local skatepark in his small village of Solva, he regularly undertakes five-hour round trips to train near Cardiff. His skill was honed during a six-month stay in Australia’s Sunshine Coast in 2025, where he trained on more advanced facilities.
- Popovic qualified by competing in senior-level events, not age-grade categories.
- He won the Hemel Hempstead round of the Survival of the Sickest series.
- The GB National Championships feature a £10,000 prize pot.
- Popovic aims to become British champion and eventually compete in the Olympics.
Popovic expressed excitement about the challenge, saying the nationals are different from the age-group competitions he has previously dominated. His mother Lucy noted his early fixation with a skateboard as a toddler, which set him on this path. The championships will be a key step in his pursuit of an Olympic dream.
