Northamptonshire beat Hampshire by 14 runs to win Vitality Blast
Northamptonshire claimed their third Vitality Blast title and first since 2016, holding off Hampshire in a fluctuating Edgbaston final.

Northamptonshire won the Vitality Blast for the third time, and the first since 2016, by beating Hampshire by 14 runs in Saturday's final at Edgbaston. Hampshire, chasing 170, were bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs.
Put in to bat, Northamptonshire were powered by Ricardo Vasconcelos, who made 88 from 59 balls, and Nathan McSweeney's 30 off 16 as they reached 138-2 in the 16th over. From there the innings fell apart: they lost eight wickets for 31 runs and were all out for 169 in 19.5 overs, with five wickets going down in the space of eight balls. Hampshire seamer Sonny Baker returned 5-21, the first five-wicket haul taken on Finals Day, while James Fuller claimed 3-36.
Hampshire's chase falls short
Hampshire's reply was built around Joe Weatherley, who struck 75 from 53 deliveries, and Liam Dawson's brisk 35 from 18. But James Sales, son of former Northamptonshire batter David Sales, took 3-25, including the wicket of Hampshire captain James Vince for 17 at the end of the powerplay.
Luke Procter's 2-25 included two wickets in the penultimate over, and Ben Sanderson (2-26) struck with successive balls in the last, having Weatherley caught in the deep by Northamptonshire captain David Willey to end the match.
- Northamptonshire 169 all out in 19.5 overs; Hampshire 155 all out in 19.2
- Vasconcelos top-scored with 88 from 59 balls before the collapse of 8-31
- Baker's 5-21 was the first five-for in Finals Day history
- Weatherley made 75 from 53 for Hampshire; Sales took 3-25
- Northamptonshire's previous titles came in 2013 and 2016
The result leaves Hampshire still waiting for a record fourth title and means they have now lost the final in two consecutive seasons. Northamptonshire add the T20 trophy to their 2013 and 2016 successes, closing out a final that swung repeatedly across both innings.
